This story is not very long but the significance is that nothing is wrong with being a step parents. Stepfamilies need to understand this critical message there are not second class citizens and though some people in churches especially try to make it appear that way to focus on the guilt of others.
If God could use imperfect men like Abraham and David for his purposes, why can't he use people in stepfamilies? I believe that this is really what we need to do is work to help families heal any individual hurts and make the family work.

I firmly believe that God is an understanding God. When you have a married couple and affairs, addiction or abuse are brought in the picture, and if it is very extensive this could be grounds for divorce. Dont get me wrong, I do not believe divorce should even be an option but when your husband/wife has been sexually involved with someone else, or they come home and beat you every night, or maybe even an addiction to a drug and they are not willing to fix it, you must get out. I believe in these circumstances God understands and will not punish or judge those who did not cause or want the divorce.
