I read this article because I work with the youth department at my church and I constant hear parents comparing their child to other babies. We are organizing parenting class because we have so many young parents. Watching my son grow up each moved at their own pace in development but as a first time parent I worried when things would happen like the firsts of events.Reading this article reinforced what the book teaches and what we tell parents. Learn when on the development scale things may take place in the normal range, have your child checked to make sure the delays are not cause by serious genetic or neurological disorders from your pediatrician. Once you know what is what with the child let the child develop. Each of my sons developed at their own pace but did first close to the same ages and the oldest always seem to help the others along especially with potty training and walk-running.

Every child is unique and they will grow at their own pace. It it important that your child thrives and develops according to his or her age group. My youngest child is 1 years old. Each time she has a doctor visit, the doctor graphs her weight and height according to his growth chart. This chart indicates how the child is progressing and their growth compared to other children. I think this is a helpful way let parents know if their children is on track.
